Nestled in the Queen Elizabeth Forest, Altskeith Country House provides the perfect location for anyone looking to explore the Trossachs National Park, Loch Lomond or just to rest and relax overlooking the shores of Loch Ard and Ben Lomond.
From the house you can fish from our own beach or launch your boat on to the Loch. Loch Ard is stunning, with small islands and a crannog to explore its an idyllic location to spend the day sailing or rowing around the Loch or even take a picnic over to the islands.
Within 1 mile of the property there is a hotel spa, swimming pool, clay pigeon shooting, farm walks, Go Country a water sports park, with hamster ball and an iceberg as well as canoeing on the Loch. You can also try your skills at archery, abseiling, cliff jumping and gorge walking.
Set in the Queen Elizabeth Forest there are many routes and trails to explore for ramblers and cyclists. Or you can book a 4 x 4 forest safari.
There is an abundance of wildlife in the area from osprey, red squirrel , wild goats and pine martins. We have even spotted red and roe deer in our garden and have our own ducks who come to visit most days.
Aberfoyle is located 3.5 miles from Altskeith Country House. There is an 18 hole golf course as well as Go Ape, the longest zip wire and hire wire forest adventure. An ideal option for groups to explore together. Quad biking, horse riding, segway driving is also located in the area.
Inchmahome Priory set on an island in the Lake of Menteith, is an idyllically situated Augustinian monastery dating from 1328. Take the boat out to the island and explore.
Loch Katrine is the home of the steamship “Sir Walter Scott” a great cruise for scenery and photography enthusiasts.
Blair Drummond Safari Park is about 30 minutes drive, close to Stirling, which also has the fabulous Stirling Castle and Wallace Monument.
